Since the inception of the Old Vine Project in 2016, the OVP has grown to include over 130 members, collectively releasing over 250 Certified Heritage Wines per year. The foundation of the OVP relies on collaboration between members and the rest of the wine industry, as we look to preserve and protect old vineyards and the people that care for them.
The Old Vine Academy (OVA) consists of an online course where category knowledge is provided for learners to work through and attain a certificate of competency, and in-person Old Vine Pruning courses that are conducted annually around the Cape.
Together with the support of the Imvini Wethu team, the OVP has developed an online platform aimed at educating the wine industry, trade, consumers, and media on the value of Certified Heritage Vineyards and the wines that they produce. The academy will offer learners the opportunity to gain additional skills and attain certification to positively impact their career prospects.
