An enduring sentiment when faced with their latest 2022 releases. Which, considering the vintage, is an incredible achievement.
Last Friday, a group of wine lovers and industry commentators sat down to a breakfast tasting of their 2022 vintage release wines, including the 2021 Elpidios red-blend. Among our number was the Chenin blanc Association’s chairperson, Ina Smith, an SA wine legend herself, Nadia Hefer of the Old Vine Project, veteran wine writer Angela Loyd, Singita’s wine director and wine judge Francois Rautenbach, and the inimitable Cathy van Zyl MW.
The attendees were very much representative of David & Nadia’s staunch support of not only the Chenin blanc Association but the Old Vine Project and their meticulous methods in showcasing the virtues of their chosen vines and varieties, old vine Chenin blanc and not-so-old Grenache noir from the Swartland.
