Over the past five years since the first International Pinotage Day, interest in and excitement around the occasion has grown immensely. Every year, the second Saturday in October is always a highlight on the calendar as wine lovers celebrate South Africa’s national variety.
Wine enthusiasts all over the globe have embraced the celebration of South Africa’s national wine and this year’s Pinotage Day celebrations promise to be extraordinary, entertaining and with a more International presence.
Internationally special Pinotage tastings and events are hosted in Asia, Europe and the USA where there is a new excitement amongst wine lovers for Pinotage wine.
South Africa will be a buzz of activity of events and promotions as wine stakeholders have grabbed the opportunity to create numerous special offerings and campaigns. In the Western Cape , a Pinotage heritage festival , Pinotage FunRun and MTB race, as well as vertical tastings and exclusive pairing menus, have been created . In Gauteng the Pinotage and Biltong festival in Centurion will treat guests to a uniquely South African celebration.
This year Pinotage Day will also be celebrated at Die Groot Plaasproe at Sandringham with a Pinotage & Biltong tasting presented in conjunction with the Wellington Wine Route.

Pinotage and Biltong Festival will be celebrated in Centurion over the Pinotage Day weekend (13-14 October) at The Leriba Hotel. This event will give wine lovers in Gauteng the opportunity to celebrate Pinotage Day in truly South African style with Biltong and a glass or two of Pinotage.
