Established in 1698, Altydgedacht Estate is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa. The farm boasts an unbroken wine making tradition exceeding two centuries and six generations of Parkers as custodians of the fine Durbanville terroir. From the white washed walls to the three hundred year old cellar, the farm has managed to maintain its original charm and character.
Etienne joined the Altydgedacht winemaking team in January 2006. He holds degrees in Chemical Engineering as well as Viticulture and Oenology from the University of Stellenbosch. No stranger to Altydgedacht, Etienne assisted Oliver Parker during the 2001 and 2002 harvests. He has also completed two other harvests in South Africa and two in California. Etienne’s winemaking philosophy is simple: to express the quality of the fruit from the Altydgedacht vineyards in the range of wines.
Hailing from Durbanville, Gerrit studied at Stellenbosch. He gained his initial experience at a neighbouring farm and six years ago, commenced his journey with Altydgedacht as Viticulturist.
